This case is of a three year old child during a regular patient follow up.Generally a sweet and amiable child, she came on 15th Sept with her mother who explained that her daughter was complaining of rattling paroxysmal cough. Child would not answer any questions. Upon being requested to open mouth, she snapped back at her mother "Why should I?" Coaxed her to open her mouth. - What brought you to homeopathy? Tell your 150 word inspirational story that connects you to homeopathy. How has homeopathy changed your life?
- In the year 1991, my mother was diagnosed with uterine fibroids. She had been suffering from DUB for the last 1 year and the gynecologist had recommended surgery. For a second opinion, my father consulted a homeopath, Dr Sarkar in Kolkata where we were residing and he took up my mother's case. I was in the 11th standard then and I remember my mother taking those small pills prescribed by the homoepath. In about 6 months of regular treatment the fibroid size reduced significantly, with relief and alleviation of the sy,ptoms of DUB. This ignited an interest in Homeopathy for me and subsequently in 1993 after completing my 12th, I enrolled for the graduation course in Homeopathy in Kolkata.... and I am glad I made the right choice.

- What is your vision for the future of homeopathy
- I had the opportunity to work for a period of time as Medical Officer (Homoeopathy) at Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust, Jolly grant, Dehradun which is a postgraduate allopathic multispecialty teachinbg hospital. Besides running the outpatient department and dispensing homeopathic treatment, my department was also involved in the treatment of trauma cases admitted in the ICU and in the neurosurgery department. We were also involved witht he treatment of Burn injury cases in the Plastic Surgery department, and thanks to my exposure there I was able to witness first hand application of homeopathy in the emergency services. There were wonderful results with medicines like Calendula which helped in significantly in tissue granulation and increased the acceptance of grafting procedures significantly. Similarly in cases of subdural hematoma (SDH) and diffuse axonal injuries to the brain there was significant improvement with medicines like Arnica and Natrum Sulph. Cases were documented in both the above examples and a pilot project was initited where the efficacy of Homeopathic medicines in such cases was documented. having worked in such a setup I wish and would like see Homeopathy more frquently being used in emergecny care, not as a replacement for modern medicine but as an adjunct so as to give a better healing envirnoment to the patient. Homeopathy is a vast science and an art and it is about time it gets its due recognition all over the world.

- I want to promote homeopathy, I want to meet like-minded people, I want to advocate for homeopathy, I want to join a local community of homeopaths, I want to be involved with the homeopathic community at large

- I did my schooling from St. james' School, Kolkata from Nursery till Class 12 (ICSE and ISC board), and passed class 12 in 1993. After that I enrolled for the BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery) from D.N De Homeopathic medical College and Hospital, under University of Calcutta in 1993 December, and cleared my final BHMS examination in Dec 1998. I completed the 1 year compulsory rotational internship in June 2000 and was awarded a degree in Homoepathic Medicine. In 2001 was awarded the HMD certificate from The British Institute of Homoeopathy, Middlesex, UK. In the last 11 years, I have worked for a number of specialty clinic chains in Homeopathy in India, like Dr. Batras' where I worked for 4 years (2000-2002 and 2004-2006) as ssenior homeopathic consultant and branch head of one of its centers in Delhi. I worked as Medical officer in homeopathy at Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust, Dehradun, India from 2003-2004. From December 2006-till October 2010 I worked first as senior homeopathic consultant and then subsequently got promoted to the post of Operations Head with H&G clinics, which is again a chain of multispecialty homeopathic clinics, based in Kolkata, and was instrumental in setting up its branches in Guwahati and New Delhi. During this period I also completed MBA in Hospital Administration in association with PSG Hospitals Coimabtore. I have been running my own practice exclusively since December 2010 in Noida.

- After the eye opening case of my mother which propelled me in the direction of homeopathy, over the last 10 years there have been a number of humbling experiences for me as a practitioner and student of homeopathy. I feel I am still learning the art of healing as envisaged by Dr. Hahnemann. Homeopathy I feel, has made me more observant and tolerant, and it has made me appreciate the beauty of life in its pure form.
- What are your interests besides homeopathy? Inquiring minds want to know.
- I like traveling a lot, and nature attracts me a lot. In my free time I would love to travel in the Himalayan belt, with its wide variety of flora and fauna. There is an American doctor, Dr. Spero Latchis, who is doing some very good work with Homeopathy up in the mountain region of Himachal pradesh. In my free time I have been planning to do community service and assist him in his endeavours
